How it works.
The principle is very simple. The cafetière is filled with (freshly roasted) coarsely ground coffee. Hot boiling water is poured over the coffee, but be careful! The water may be up to 93 degrees Celsius, so really off the boil. The coffee and water must be well mixed with a spoon. You let this mixture steep for about 4 minutes. Now you are going to push down the filter sieve unit (=metal sieve) with little force. Always do this gently! After all, you want to avoid the hot water from the push pot ending up on your hands or elsewhere. Hmm, your coffee is now ready to be poured.
