This black tea from Oothu, southern India, has a fresh fragrance and taste of bergamot oil from Calabria, southern Italy. Bergamot is a citrus species that takes as many as 7 years to bear fruit and 12-15 years for a full harvest. Each well-tended tree produces about 300 kilograms of fruit, of which 300-600 grams of oil can be extracted from the peels. Due to the limited supply, this makes bergamot oil expensive.
