The intelligent water filter with a plus

Coffee consists of more than 98 percent water. Perfect water quality is therefore crucial for a perfect coffee result. With CLARIS Smart+, JURA is bringing about another revolution in water filtration. The water filter technology provides a plus in hygiene in the fully automatic coffee machine - and already in the water tank. The CLARIS filter cartridge also features a depot at its bottom with natural active ingredients that stabilize the water in the reservoir, thereby reducing limescale deposits at the reservoir bottom. This works entirely without additional energy or action, but only through the natural movement of the water in the reservoir, so that it flows ever so slightly through the depot. Still the upper part of the CLARIS filter cartridge for coffee preparation, by means of ion exchange and activated carbon according to the countercurrent principle, filters exactly the required amount of water for a perfect cup of coffee.

Thanks to RFID technology, the fully automatic machine also recognizes whether a filter is inserted and automatically activates the appropriate mode. It constantly collects information about filter usage and reports when the filter has worn out. This not only makes filter replacement unprecedentedly easy, but also enables CLARIS Smart+ to function effectively.

The plus in hygiene and cleanliness
CLARIS Smart+ complements the proven professional counterflow principle, which filters exactly the required amount of water for every coffee preparation, with a depot of natural active ingredients. The plus: Due to its natural movement, the water always flows lightly through this depot and is stabilized by the contact. This leads to fewer limescale deposits and ensures maximum cleanliness of the water tank.

Suitable for any type of tap water
Thanks to its innovative formula, the filter cartridges can be used worldwide with any type of tap water. The highly effective granulate always filters lime at the optimum amount (even at low water hardness levels) and reduces harmful and taste-degrading substances such as chlorine in an unprecedentedly efficient manner. Minerals and fluorides, which act as important flavoring agents, are retained. Optimal lime stabilization already in the water tank and efficient filtering during coffee preparation ensure best hygiene and optimal water quality for a perfect coffee aroma.

Automatic filter detection
To enable a dialogue between filter and fully automatic machine, JURA uses modern RFID technology. Every coffee machine with the Intelligent Water System (I.W.S.®) automatically recognizes when a filter is inserted, switches independently to filter operation and starts the rinse. If the filter is nearly used up, the fully automatic machine indicates that the filter should be replaced soon. If the filter is not changed, the device activates the descaling process. After corresponding use, the descaling request appears. However, descaling can only be carried out with the filter removed. Wrong treatment due to misunderstandings is thus a thing of the past.
