Coffee farmer Getachew
Dimtu, located in the heart of the Guji Zone, Odo Shakiso Woreda, is a center for sustainable coffee production in Ethiopia. Getachew Zekele has established his own coffee farm and local wet-& dry mill station. The goal is to produce his own high-quality coffee as well as support the smaller communities around Dimtu Tero by providing support and resources to local farmers. Getachew's network includes 416 farmers from the villages of Tero, Jelewo Anona, Mancity and Hangadi.

Location and Municipality.
The village of Mancity in this region, serves as the central hub for Dimtu Tero Farm's operations and plays an important role in the local coffee community. This village is home to and a vital part of the broader coffee ecosystem in the area.

The Coffee Farmers
Mancity has 107 registered farmers who, with a combined 328.65 hectares of coffee plantations, make up about 20% of Dimtu's total land area. Each plot is processed separately to ensure maximum traceability and preserve the unique qualities of each micro-region. This meticulous approach ensures high quality standards and connects farmers. This creates a community dedicated to producing coffee sustainably together.

Relationship with farmers
Getachew Zekele's approach emphasizes strong, supportive relationships with farmers. His vision is based on inclusive growth. Everyone is given the opportunity to contribute and benefit from increased prosperity. Dimtu Tero provides these farmers with essential knowledge and seedlings and regular training sessions on keeping coffee plantations healthy. Coffee from Mancity and surrounding areas is promoted at a premium price, which directly benefits the farmers. Coordinated research efforts are aimed at continuously improving coffee quality. Dimtu Tero covers the cost of inspections and certifications to ensure compliance with organic and quality standards.

Local farmers in Mancity are expected to adhere to the training provided to maintain high standards in their coffee production. They are committed to sustainable and natural coffee production methods. Each season, local farmers provide yield estimates before harvest begins and ensure timely delivery of their coffee beans to maintain freshness and quality.

Vision of Getachew
Getachew Zekele believes in mutual benefit, with his inclusive growth philosophy ensuring that the 107 registered local farmers in Mancity benefit from Dimtu Tero's success. This partnership model enables local farmers to improve their farms and family lives through the premium prices they receive for their coffee. Getachew's vision is to become one of the leading coffee producers, processors and exporters in the country, trusted for its quality, traceability and sustainability.
