Recently I did a test with a grain drink as a substitute for coffee. The company of this grain drink that is now on the market has the mission to offer an alternative to coffee that comes from large plantations and where a lot of deforestation takes place. A sympathetic idea I thought. We at Boot coffee (Baarn since 1973) as a specialty coffee roaster are very much against deforestation. And with us also many other specialty coffee roasters. However, after I brewed the grain drink with filter and tasted the coffee capsules, I didn't like it at all. I can say: odorless almost, flat, a hint of chocolate and then cardboard. Not to drink!

So those so-called substitutes for coffee are a bad idea.

And.... The solution against deforestation is already here! And if you drink it, join us in creating more forest!

How.
Small-scale specialty coffee plantations are the solution. The coffee farmers that Boot coffee has worked with for many decades work this way. They pay full attention to their nature and forests and woods. The small scale of coffee cultivation is an important factor. The coffee also becomes of much better quality due to the input of nature, micro-climates and flora and fauna. All this enhances the natural flavors that settle in the bean. By the way, a number of other specialty coffee roasters also work this way. So, enjoy with Happiness by Taste and enjoy the forestation too!

Ps

Most of our coffees grow on coffee plantations where shade trees, afforestation, preservation and enhancement of the rainforest is a main concern. Nature goes hand in hand with cultivation there. The coffee berries improve in flavor because they are grown under these trees and mixed with this nature. An example is our Colombia from the Kachalu cooperative from Santander. The coffee was awarded 8.5 in this year's specialty coffee rating.
Our Colombia Kachalu Organic coffee (filter or espresso) is almost completely climate neutral by nature due to organic cultivation and the immense nature of rain forests! This is amazing. With a project of the Climate Neutral Group, this plantation has become completely climate neutral.

Also Panama where many of our coffees come from is one of the few Negative CO2 countries! That is, by buying those products from Panama you support the fight against CO2. All plantations are in nature reserves and shade tree forests. And the coffee farmer gets paid very well. 2 great examples of this are the Panamaria and the Panama Birdsong.

These are 2 examples of what you can also do against deforestation: Drink specialty coffee and taste Happiness through Taste.
