Who are you and what is your position at BOOT?
My name is Elisa van Kooten and I started at BOOT at the beginning of this year in the finance department. I am responsible for entering invoices and processing orders in the administration. In addition, you may have seen me on the phone, because I also do a bit of customer service!

Why do you work with coffee?
I grew up with BOOT, then called The Golden Coffee Box. On Laan Street, the smell of coffee meets you as you walk by. Sometimes someone would stand outside with a little golden coffee roaster. Even as a little girl, I thought that smelled so good. BOOT Koffie is a company where everyone has a passion for honest coffee. BOOT really wants to contribute to a better world and that appeals to me a lot. My strongest side is financial administration, and to be able to combine this with coffee is a big bonus.

What is your most memorable moment as a coffee professional?
There isn't one specific moment right away, but I found it special to discover the path coffee takes all the way through before you can drink it. You don't dwell on that often enough. There are so many people and actions involved: from growing coffee in a coffee country, transporting it to our country, roasting it in our roastery, to everyone who wants to drink, serve or sell it. BOOT ensures that all people in the chain get a fair price for their product or efforts. And so, as a financial officer, I can still do my part in this beautiful process and make sure that everything goes smoothly behind the financial scenes.

In your opinion, what is a coffee that everyone should try?
Before I joined BOOT, I was taught that strong coffee is good coffee. Now a world has opened up for me: there is so much more. Drinking coffee with caffeine helps you work with extra focus. I am convinced that I can do this even without coffee ; ) But ... it's nice that we have such great coffee at the office. If it were up to me, I would always drink Panamaria Espresso at the office. It really is my favorite: subtle and flavorful.

At home, I prefer to drink Ethiopia filter from my filter machine. The flavors of floral, chocolate and citrus ... delicious!
