On Friday 2 March the young coffee merchant Mokhtar Alkhanshali from Yemen presented his exclusive coffee at Boot in Baarn. (In collaboration with Boekhandel den Boer.) The high-profile book: The Monk of Mocha was presented by the protagonist himself and the exclusive coffee was personally roasted and served by Barend Boot.

Flights with a suitcase full of coffee beans
In a small wooden boat, coffee trader Mokhtar Alkhanshali fled the recent violence of war in Yemen. His suitcase was filled with coffee beans and headed for the United States. These coffee beans were to be given the designation "best coffee in the world. In this way, the young social entrepreneur hoped to get Yemen back on its feet. In the United States, the coffee achieved the highest score in Coffee Review's most important ranking. His difficult journey and the great success of the coffee grew into a heroic epic in the media. At the popular coffee chain Blue Bottle Coffee, Alkhanshali immersed himself further in coffee and then he met Willem Boot, the brother of Barend Boot.

Alkhanshali visits Boot Koffie
The true story of Mokhtar Alkhanshali, the protagonist of the recently published book The Monk of Mocha, will be presented in collaboration with Boekhandel de Boer at Boot Koffie in Baarn. Barend Boot will roast and taste the very exclusive coffee that Alkhanshali brought back from Yemen. Boot and Alkhanshali will visit various bookstores and espresso bars on Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3 to share the young coffee trader's story.
