History:
The origin of this brewing method comes from France. The push pot is also known by the name "French Press" or "cafetière. The first push pots were introduced around 1840. Around 1930 the first stainless steel model appeared. Around the 1970s, the 1st metal and glass models appeared.

How does it work exactly?
The principle is very simple. A glass cylinder is filled with (freshly roasted) coarsely ground coffee. Hot boiled water is poured on top. Please note! The water must be off the boil, about 93 degrees. The coffee and water must be mixed well with a spoon. You let this mixture steep for about 4 minutes. Now you are going to push down the filter sieve unit (=metal sieve) with little force. Always do this gently! After all, you want to prevent the hot water from the push pot ending up on your hands or elsewhere. Hmm, your coffee is ready to be poured now.

The best result:
All parts of your brewing pot should always be clean. As with all coffee brewing methods, it is important that you use freshly roasted beans. For your brew pot it is best to use one of our filter coffees. Use a coarsely ground coffee. Please specify the correct grind (cafetière/ push pot - cona grind) when ordering your coffee.

Brewing instructions:

1. Place the push pot on a dry, flat, non-slippery surface. Hold the handle securely and pull the filter screen unit straight up out of the pot.

2. Per cup (1.25dl), put 1 full tablespoon or 1 measuring spoon of coarsely ground coffee into the coffee pot. CAUTION: Use only coarsely ground coffee. Finely ground coffee can clog the filter and cause excessive pressure. Place the push pot on a heat-resistant, non-slip surface.

3. Pour hot (not boiling) water into the pot. Leave at least 2.5 cm of space to the rim. Stir the coffee mixture well with a plastic spoon. CAUTION: Metal spoons can scratch or damage the glass pot, causing it to crack.

4. Place the filter strainer unit on the pot. Turn the lid to close the pouring spout. Allow the coffee to steep for at least 4 minutes.

5. Hold the handle of the pot firmly with the pouring spout facing away from you. Use only the weight of your hand to exert slight pressure on the button and push the press filter straight down into the pot. For best results, push the strainer down slowly with minimal pressure. If the filter becomes clogged or cannot be pushed down easily, pull the filter strainer unit out of the pot, stir the coffee briefly and then slowly push the filter back down.

6. Turn the lid to open the pouring spout and pour the coffee.

7. Unscrew the filter unit and clean it after each time you make coffee. All parts are dishwasher safe.
