Below you will find all the information about coffee during pregnancy and afterwards.

First we posed this question to our colleague Ruth (expert by experience):
How do you view coffee during pregnancy?

"What a fun question. My craving for coffee was completely gone for the first few months, then it slowly came back. I also only wanted to drink filter coffee, while I am normally a real espresso fan. Drinking less coffee at home was not a problem. I usually drank max two cups of filter coffee, and then not a big 250ml mug, but two small cups. Cutting back at work was a little trickier, since I still had to taste espressos throughout the day.

It really matters what kind of coffee you drink: robusta or arabica, filter or espresso, dark or light roast. Boot only sells arabica, which has much less caffeine in it than robusta. And in my opinion, there is more caffeine in a standard cup of filter than in an espresso (filter has longer flow time, so more caffeine can be released).

Incidentally, my appetite for espressos returned about a day before I gave birth, and now I'm back on the espresso tour. Have to be careful now too because I'm breastfeeding, but I used to drink caffeinated coffee first thing in the morning and then decaffeinated. Fortunately, Boot has a genuinely delicious caffeine free coffee!!!
