Coffee of the Month July 2023 - Ethiopia Organic Espresso & Filter

The weather is lovely and time to go outside. Personally, I like to drink coffee outdoors. A moment of rest and enjoyment in nature. Sometimes you can get a cup of coffee at a catering establishment, but more often there is no possibility to drink (good) coffee in these kind of remote places. That's why I always bring my own coffee!

This time I bring Ethiopia Organic Filter, a coffee that surprises me every time. When I brew the coffee in a different way, I always discover new flavors. The flavors in the coffee remind me of chocolate, citrus, floral and cherry. This coffee comes from the Dimtu Tero Farm, from the Guji region of Ethiopia. I go out and take my AeroPress, a coffee grinder (old-fashioned hand grinder), an enamel mug, coffee beans and hot water in a thermos.

While walking with my dog, I come across a bench with a beautiful view of the moor. Ugh, just a little longer and the moor will turn purple again! It is a beautiful place to enjoy a cup of coffee. The dog is tired and comes to lie down with me. I have weighed 17 grams of coffee at home and grind it with the hand grinder. Then I put the coffee in the AeroPress and pour hot water on top. To the rim of the AeroPress is about 250 grams of water. The "plunger" on top and wait. After two minutes, roll for a moment and then push through after 30 seconds. The coffee is ready: time to enjoy the peace and quiet, the dog and my cup of coffee outdoors.

Summer has begun, for many it is almost vacation time and there is more time to enjoy the important things in life. How do you brew this coffee from Ethiopia? In addition to the filter roast, try the espresso roast for more intensity and darker notes, like chocolate. Our baristas will be happy to help you with a custom brewing recommendation. Happy summer!
