The organic Kachalu coffee from Colombia is really successfully received at the ACF, says Florian roaster at Boot. A nice honey-like sweetness and balanced in the espresso and americano, lungo or regular coffee I hear around me at the Boot booth saying. And also, the Kachalu coffee farmers get paid an extra bonus for their 84+ specialty coffee quality. This results in very nice flavors.

Barend Boot director of Boot talks enthusiastically about the results of Boots CSR pilot project with the Kachalu cooperative that are prominently presented here at the festival:

"These outcomes are fantastic. This is proof that coffee can also be a success story and that it is not all doom and gloom! What we at Boot have stood for for decades has become crystal clear. By producing specialty quality coffee organically and with respect for nature, the environment, people and animals, these farmers (each with an average of 7 hectares) appear to be able to earn a good living.

And what is even more amazing, this pilot shows that the coffee grounds of these farmers produce a "naturally" almost climate-neutral coffee because of the design with shade trees, natural forest environment, conservation of nature, years of organic cultivation and the low sparing water consumption! The Kachalu is found to produce only 10% of the emissions of the average Colombian plantation! The last vestige of excess emissions has been offset together with a forestry project of the Climate Neutral Group. As a specialty coffee, Boot's Kachalu coffee from Colombia is therefore practically climate-neutral in a natural way as well. "

Barend also emphasizes that the Colombia Kachalu is very suitable for serving at home, in the business or in the hospitality industry. A very accessible coffee, with a fine aftertaste that makes you want to take a second cup.
