A group of fifteen coffee farmers from Costa Rica, Panama, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua visited Boot Koffie at the invitation of Barend Boot.

The aim was to exchange information. In recent years the price of coffee on the world market has continued to fall. This is bad news for the coffee farmers. That has to change, according to Barend Boot.

Barend Boot wants to give the coffee drinker an unforgettable experience of happiness with the smells and tastes of the best coffees in the world. The roaster believes it is important to share the stories of coffee farmers. "I exist because you use my name and coffee," says the coffee farmer.

Boot Koffie believes that you can only be genuinely happy with coffee when everyone in the chain earns a fair share.

Barend Boot wants to make a direct contribution to improving the quality of life of coffee farmers, regardless of the price of coffee on the world market. This is based on the needs and wishes of the local coffee farmers themselves and not on what we in the Netherlands think is right.

And we succeeded. During the tasting of the coffees brought along, the coffee farmers shared many ideas and possibilities in an enthusiastic exchange of views. The guarantee of sales security is at least as important to the farmers as achieving a better price for their coffee. With guaranteed sales, it is possible to structurally increase the price.
